KIPP Troy Prep High School Students Visit Troy Mayor

Troy, New York - On Wednesday, February 28, students from KIPP Troy Prep High School had the opportunity to visit with newly elected Mayor Carmella Mantello at Troy City Hall.

While there, students and faculty were provided with an understanding of Mayor Mantello’s vision for Troy and the importance of civic engagement as she took them on a personal tour of the city facility.

“Mayor Mantello spent a generous amount of time with our students and made it abundantly clear that she cares about their success in the classroom and beyond. She introduced students to city officials and personnel who matched their unique interests to show them what types of career opportunities there are for them right in City Hall,” said Debra Garrett, KIPP Capital Region Alumni Support Manager. “We are grateful for the opportunity and hope to bring more students back for a visit soon.”

“It was so wonderful to welcome the students from KIPP Troy Prep High School to City Hall recently,” said Mayor Carmella Mantello. “Encouraging a positive and productive learning environment is one of the many things included in our plan for a better Troy, and I can’t wait to see these future leaders continue to grow.”

They also met with Troy City Council Member Ryan Brosnan, who represents the area that includes KIPP Troy Prep Elementary, Troy’s Director of Diversity, Opportunity, and Outreach Kevin Pryor, Deputy Mayor Seamus Donnelly and Russ Reeves, City Engineer and Commissioner of the Water Plant.
