Marking the national observance of Giving Tuesday, Pioneer will present $20,000 in donations to four Capital Region nonprofit organizations working to enrich the health and welfare of children in need.

A check presentation ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 28 at 9:30 a.m. at Pioneer’s Headquarters, 652 Albany Shaker Road in Colonie.

With these donations, the Pioneer Charitable Foundationfounded in 2018 with a mission of “Helping Kids be Kids,” will reach $1.6 million in giving over its first 5 years. During that time, the foundation has provided vital support to more than 400 nonprofits that serve vulnerable local children, from housing, nutrition and health care assistance to educational, social and recreational programs. In addition, Pioneer employees have contributed well over 12,000 hours in local volunteer service.

A representative from each nonprofit award recipient will speak briefly at the ceremony to discuss the impact of the foundation’s support, as well as Susan Hollister, Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer and Co-Chair of the Pioneer Charitable Foundation.

Also at the event, Pioneer will announce the launch of a clothing drive to collect new winter hats and gloves for children in need. Donations will be accepted at Pioneer’s headquarters and throughout its 22 branches through December 19.

The event will provide excellent photo/video and interview opportunities in a highly visual setting. Reporters, photographers and videographers are welcome to attend.
