100 Women Who Care Albany Selects Sidewalk Warriors – Troy to Receive More Than $22,000

Sidewalk Warriors – Troy was nominated and selected as the quarterly nonprofit to receive more than $22,000 from 100 Women Who Care Albany.

100 Women Who Care Albany is a group of more than 220 Albany area women who come together four times a year to pool their resources and contribute to worthy local nonprofits. Each member pledges to donate $400 annually to support nonprofits throughout the year. Each quarter, they hear pitches from fellow members regarding organizations that could use the funds. After a vote, one nonprofit is selected to receive every single donation from all the members. The Albany chapter will soon have supported nonprofits with more than $500,000 in total raised funds. Additional information can be found on their website: https://100wwcalbany.org/

“It’s an incredible amount to be awarded and we can’t thank 100 Women Who Care Albany enough for their generous support,” said Nicholas Francella, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Sidewalk Warriors – Troy. “We’re serving more individuals than ever this summer and these funds will ensure our tables continue to be stocked with essentials our community needs.”

In addition to the quarterly donations, 100 Women Who Care Albany has donated even more money through a partnership with the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, a nonprofit created by the founder and chairman of the national electronics retailer Best Buy. Sidewalk Warriors – Troy will also receive additional funds through this partnership.

Sidewalk Warriors – Troy was founded in 2021 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is 100% organized and operated by dedicated volunteers. Every Thursday evening at 35 State Street in Troy, they serve more than 140 individuals struggling from food insecurity, homelessness, and mental illness.
