Tech Valley Center to Host 10-Year Anniversary Celebration & Awards Dinner

On November 17th, Tech Valley Center of Gravity (TVCOG), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and the Capital District’s leading makerspace, will be hosting its 10-Year Anniversary Celebration & Awards Dinner. The event will take place at 6 PM at Brown’s Revolution Hall located at 425 River Street in Troy, NY. The ticket price is $75 and includes dinner, live music with Alec Betterly, a silent auction, and an awards presentation. Awards will be presented to some of the organization’s most dedicated members including Dan Falkenstrom, Blaise Hartley, Sabrina Hartley, Steve Nordhauser, Irene Purificato, Robert Tait, Troy Fischer and Alex Titcomb.

The event will also feature Keynote Speaker, Dr. Heidi Knoblauch, Senior Director at New York Ventures, a division of Empire State Development (ESD). As senior director, Dr. Knoblauch manages a fund of funds that invests in managers who invest in exceptional New York State founders. She is also the Board Chair of Hearst Media’s Women@Work and holds a faculty position at the University at Albany where she is the Ackner-Newman Professor of Practice in the School of Business.

Tech Valley Center of Gravity first opened its doors in March of 2013 on the ground floor of the Uncle Sam Parking Garage in Troy. On its first day it enrolled more than 100 members. In August of 2015, the organization moved to the historic Quackenbush Building. Its 15,000 sq ft facility houses a makerspace, manufacturing incubator, and STEAM education center. It is now the leading makerspace in the Capital District and serves more than 200 members, including artists, craft persons, enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and professionals.

“I have been a member of Tech Valley Center of Gravity for the past ten years,” said Dan Falkenstrom, TVCOG’s Operation Director. “So many organizations and people have helped make the organization what it is today. I look forward to celebrating this milestone and hope the community will join us.”

All proceeds from the evening will be used to support Tech Valley Center of Gravity and its programs.
